If I am laying in the hospital with a broken neck in a few days, at least I will be comforted by the thought that my boots and entrance way are not covered in salt!

DeleteDon't recommend salt or other chemicals as they can degrade the concrete eventually requiring the material be repaired or replaced. Plain old kitty litter provides good tracton on ice, does not harm the concrete etc. and is easily swept up when the weather improves.
